Dit weekend is de jaarlijkse Bilderberg bijeenkomst, deze keer in het Marriott Westfield in Chantilly, Virginia (USA). U weet wel, de plek waar door de invloedrijken van deze wereld de huidige economische crisis is geïnstigeerd en geregisseerd, om zo de wereld onderdanig te maken aan één enkele overkoepelende macht. Sommigen noemen dit de New World Order, anderen de Goldman Sachs Rule en weer anderen noemen het Joris Demmink Is Pedo. Hoe het ook zij, het wordt compleet genegeerd door de serieuzere media in dit land (niet in de USA, maar dan gaat het weer over de randverschijnselen), terwijl zowel Beatrix als Mark Rutte als Alexander Pechtold aanwezig zijn, volgens de lijst. Ook Paul Scheffer (gaappublicist) en Paul Polman (baas Unilever) zijn van de partij. Verdacht! Sowieso, wat doet Alexander Pechtold -die eigenlijk Hendrik-Jan van Buitenveldert heette voordat hij door de Bilderberg groep als alleenheerser van D66 naar voren werd geschoven- daar? Zullen we u vertellen. Nadat zogenaamd Wilders het Catshuisberaad opblies, regelde Pechtold ineens in enkele dagen een akkoord wat toevallig erg ruk uitkomt voor veel Nederlanders. Was een opzetje samen met Rutte en Bea die besproken is na Bilderberg 2011. Of dacht u echt dat het toeval was dat het Kontneukakkoord tot stand kwam in de D66 fractiekamer met Pechtold aan het hoofd van de tafel? Raad eens wie ons land gaat regeren vanaf 12 september, zonder dat u er wat aan kunt doen? Precies, Rutte, Pechtold en een paar marionetten van Unilever. Om de soevereiniteit van ons land definitief uit te leveren aan de machten achter de schermen via allerlei ESM-constructies met als excuus 'moet van de EU'. ALLEMAAL WAAR EN FEITELIJK! SP Harry zegt het ook. Kijk naar de rookgordijntweets van Pechtold. Alsof hij helemaal niet op de Bilderberg conferentie is, terwijl u hem overduidelijk in deze fotoreeks uitgejouwd kan zien worden door de volkomen rationele protestanten. Vaste gast koningin Beatrix, demissionair premier Mark Rutte en D66-leider Alexander Pechtold zijn dit weekend aanwezig op de zestigste Bilderbergconferentie, dit keer in het Amerikaanse Chantilly. Het is een conferentie die altijd met veel mysterie omgeven is, en dat altijd wel zal blijven.

Ook dit weekend zullen vele hoge heren en dames uit de politiek, de royalty en het bedrijfsleven elkaar ontmoeten en in informele setting de wereldproblematiek bespreken. Zo zijn daar bijvoorbeeld Google-topman Eric Schmidt, kroonprins Philippe van België, oud-minister van Buitenlandse Zaken van de Verenigde Staten Henry Kissinger, oud-wereldkampioen schaken en tegenwoordig activist Gary Kasparov, en ook publicist Paul Scheffer is aanwezig.

De Bilderberg-conferenties vinden sinds 1954 op regelmatige basis plaats. Ze zijn vernoemd naar het Bilderberg hotel, in Oosterbeek, waar mede op instigatie van prins Bernhard de eerste sessie was. Sindsdien worden de conferenties op wisselende locaties georganiseerd.

Koude Oorlog
Ze werden opgericht om in de Koude Oorlog de trans-Atlantische relaties te versterken. Die sterke relaties zijn, ondanks de val van het ijzeren gordijn, nog altijd hard nodig, menen de organisatoren. 'In de praktijk zijn er nu meer, niet minder, gezamenlijke problemen. Van handel tot banen, van monetair beleid tot investeringen, van ecologische uitdagingen tot de taak van het promoten van internationale veiligheid', aldus de Bilderberg-website.

Het idee is achter de conferenties is wel altijd hetzelfde geweest. Informele off-the-record-bijeenkomsten waar iedereen zijn of haar gedachten kan uitspreken over de problemen in de wereld. Er worden geen resoluties aangenomen, er wordt niet gestemd, er worden geen beleidsmaatregelen gepubliceerd. Deelnemers aan Bilderberg hebben zwijgplicht.

En juist daarin zit de geheimzinnigheid. Over wat de kopstukken uit de internationale elite bespreken, komt zelden iets naar buiten. En dat is voer voor de complottheoretici.

Wereldregering
De Bilderberg-conferenties zijn bijna synoniem geworden voor conferenties van de superklasse. Het zou een 'geheime wereldregering' zijn waar de échte besluiten genomen worden. De rest - democratie voorop - zou niet meer dan een toneelstukje zijn, op de jaarlijkse conferentie van de wereldelite wordt beslist welke kant de wereld op gaat; een oncontroleerbare schaduwmacht.

Ook Rutte en Pechtold zullen na afloop van deze conferentie dat beeld niet weten te ontkrachten. Wat teleurgesteld constateert SP-Kamerlid Harry van Bommel op zijn blog dat het 'vreemd' is 'dat we niet mogen weten wat de premier daar zegt. 'Op mijn eerdere Kamervragen over deze conferentie kreeg ik steeds een nietszeggend antwoord'. En dat, terwijl de reis en het verblijf door de belastingbetaler worden betaald', aldus Van Bommel.

Fractieleider Marianne Thieme van de Partij voor de Dieren heeft Kamervragen gesteld naar aanleiding van de aanwezigheid van premier Rutte.

As the conference gets into full swing, Charlie Skelton meets the alternative media and their $700 cameras, as they remain convinced their mainstream brethren are missing the story


The official list of participants was released early this year. Praise where praise is due: well done Bilderberg for starting to behave like a grown-up political summit. Good behaviour like this should be given positive reinforcement – I feel like I should ruffle Henry Kissinger's hair and toss him a meaty treat. Alas, I think I might be dropped by a sniper before I could reach his wheelchair.

That's if I managed to get past the eagle eyes of Senator John Kerry. He's attending this year, alongside Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana. I can imagine they'd grab an arm each, while Nick Boles MP stood on his little stool in the corner, jeering, as I was dragged from the conference room, and booted into the parking lot by Mark Rutte, the Dutch prime minister, while Michael Noonan, Ireland's minister for finance, tells me in no uncertain terms to get lost. Which, by the way, is news to me – Ireland has a minister for finance?

>> Even without Rocky, there's a stellar cast from the world of banking and finance. Old favourites like Agius and Flint (the chairfolk of Barclays and HSBC), and a new name on my radar – Michael J Evans – who enjoys the elegant title: vice-chairman, global head of growth markets, Goldman Sachs.

Evans will be conferencing with his esteemed colleages, James A Johnson (director of Goldman Sachs) and Peter Sutherland (chairman of Goldman Sachs International) – the last two both members of Bilderberg's Steering Group. The strong Goldman showing this year does so much to reassure me of the benign and worthwhile efforts of Bilderberg. They just want to get on and help us, quietly and secretly. Like a corporate cross between Santa Claus and a big friendly squid.

There's a reason Bilderberg feels so comfortable in Chantilly, Virginia – 15 minutes up the road from CIA headquarters. It's because the US intelligence community is its spiritual home.

If you peer back into Bilderberg's past, and scan enough declassified documents, you can begin to appreciate how intimate the relationship is between global lobbying and global intelligence.

If you've ever find yourself wondering "what exactly is Bilderberg?", you might want to take a look at a press conference in 1950, held by a man called William Donovan.

William 'Wild Bill' Donovan was "the Father of American Intelligence" – and one of the most senior figures in the US intelligence scene at the time. You can read his CIA biography here but don't forget to clear your cookies afterwards.

Sitting next to Donovan was the man who pulled Bilderberg together in the early 1950s – Józef Retinger. A tireless fixer, social climber and committee former, Retinger in 1950 was the secretary-general of the European Movement. He was also a British intelligence operative, but that's a whole other twist in the tale.

Retinger's burgeoning European Movement was being funded by the CIA. And the man in charge of getting him the money? Tom Braden of the CIA. The third man holding the press conference and quoted in the Saturday Evening Post in 1967 saying, "I'm glad the CIA is immoral."

Bilderberg was Retinger's baby, and it was born out of a murky merger in 1954 of spooks and bankers, and fed from a bottomless bottle of spycash. But don't take my word for it. Go look at the documents. Don't think you 'know' about Bilderberg because Robert Kagan (the arch neo-con) tells you that "it's a lot of vaguely uninteresting people giving vaguely uninteresting lectures and then having nice meals in nice places."

"Look at the newspaper," says his friend Aaron Wolkind, "it's half sports. Billions of dollars are poured into this stuff, ramming it into the public psyche. People's primal competitive urges are focused onto a false, superficial sports-reality. My friends who are still into sports, I can't relate to them any more. They channel all their passion and energy into something meaningless. And they know so much about it: all the statistics; who might or might not get drafted into which team. I've got friends who will literally fight over sports. Me? I'm passionate about the real world."

Noam Chomsky made exactly this point in a 1992 interview featured in Manufacturing Consent. Chomsky describes sports as:


…another crucial example of the indoctrination system, in my view… it offers people something to pay attention to that's of no importance… And in fact it's striking to see the intelligence that's used by ordinary people in [discussions of] sports [as opposed to political and social issues]. I mean, you listen to radio stations where people call in -- they have the most exotic information and understanding about all kind of arcane issues. And the press undoubtedly does a lot with this.

The European Union is now moving to create a mandatory electronic ID system for all EU citizens that would be implemented across Europe to standardize business both online and in person, authenticating users via a common 'electronic signature.' A single authenticating ID would guard access to the Internet, online data and most commerce. It is nothing short of an attempt to phase in a Mark of the Beast system, and a prominent Bilderberg attendee is behind the scheme.

Neelie Kroes is the EU's Digital Agenda Commissioner, and is introducing legislation she hopes will force "the adoption of harmonised e-signatures, e-identities and electronic authentication services (eIAS) across EU member states."

The extent of such a system would, of course, expand over time, particularly as many EU nations have resisted the big government encroachment of ID requirements on civil rights grounds, which even now smack of the Nazi regime's draconian "papers please" policies that empowered their other avenues of tyranny. According to EurActiv.com, Neelie Kroes would later "widen the scope of the current Directive by including also ancillary authentication services that complement e-signatures, like electronic seals, time/date stamps, etc," as the supra-national body attempts to corral more nations into participation.

This big brother system will be implemented in Europe first and later pushed in North America and the remainder of the globe, as the world is nudged step by step towards a total cashless control grid in the name of 'safe, verifiable commerce,' and of course, in the name of "security." Nevermind that the plan would invite the hacking of identities and fast track forgeries. In the case of Europe, special emphasis is placed in part on "establishing a truly functioning single market" — part of the larger EU goal even now floundering.

Neelie Kroes has been a long term Bilderberg attendee, showing up annually since 2005. She was on the official list for the 2006 meeting in Ottawa, Canada, then the 2007 meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, 2008 in Chantilly, Virginia, 2009 in Vouliagmeni, Greece and 2010 in Sitges, Spain as a delegate from the European Commission.

But in 2011, Kroes came to the table in St. Moritz, Switzerland with a new title: the EU's Commissioner for Digital Agenda, so obviously now seeing development on that agenda was not unexpected. Kroes latest effort will surely be bolstered during the 2012 meeting now just days away.

Romney's office initially refused to confirm or deny his attendance as Bilderberg is "not public". They later said it was not him.

So, was he being crowned, or singing for his supper? Will Mitt Romney follow in the august footsteps of Clinton, Cameron and Blair to have attended Bilderberg and then shortly become leader? Four years ago, Senator Obama shook off his press detail and nipped (many think) into Bilderberg. This exact same hotel.

Did Romney have to get down on one knee in front of David Rockefeller? This sounds flippant, but it's a serious question: has Bilderberg switched allegiance? Are they going to toss away Obama after just one term?

I put this question to author and Bilderberg expert Webster Tarpley. Is Wall Street going to throw its chips in with Romney? "I think there's a frisson that's gone through the ruling class against Obama," he says. The leak we had from the flirty hotel staffer corroborated this. "They don't seem to like Obama very much," he said.

Tarpley's conclusion is this: "They want Romney and Mitch Daniels, who will run together as moderate rightists." Governor Daniels of Indiana was on the official list.

The official list is nonsense

The Washington Post saw Bill Gates come in. And I've got three eyewitnesses from inside who confirmed he was here. This is his ear:

Attending Bilderberg 2012 as an 'international' participant was Bassma Kodmani.

So who is Bassma Kodmani? The answer to that question is also the answer to the question: what the hell is happening in Syria? This is where it gets interesting (and worrying) for Bilderberg followers.

Kodmani was at Bilderberg in 2008, the last time it was here in Chantilly. She is a member of the European Council on foreign relations – its parent group, the council on foreign relations, is a sort of über lobby group, a couple of rungs down from Bilderberg, but still hugely powerful.

There's a lot of CFR/Bilderberg crossover. Honorary chairman of both is David Rockefeller; co-chairman of the CFR is Robert Rubin (he was here); and on the CFR's board of directors are Fouad Ajami and Henry Kravis, both at Bilderberg 2012.

Bassma Kodmani is also the executive director of the Arab Reform Initiative. This body, set up in 2004 by the CFR, is helping to steer "a comprehensive process" of "democratic reform" in the region. In 2005, the Syrian National Council came into being. Bassma Kodmani was a founding member, and is on the executive committee. Kodmani is one of the SNC's two spokespeople, alongside Radwan Ziadeh (who has a flawless Washington pedigree – look him up). According to its website, the SNC is a non profit public policy research organization register in the District of Colombia and headquartered in Washington DC. Just up the road.

I asked Tarpley about Kodmani. He doesn't mince words. "She's a Nato agent, a destabilizer, a colour revolution queen. The fact that Kodmani was there is a scary one for Syria", says Tarpley.

To those gathered outside, at least, it looks increasingly like, at this year's Bilderberg, the war of regime change got signed off. In the airport lobby, on the way home from Bilderberg, I looked up at a TV monitor to see Bilderberg attendee and CFR board member Fouad Ajami talking about how Syria is about to become another Libya. That sound you can hear? It's all those juicy defence contracts being scratched out around Chantilly. Fuel the jets and open the champagne, boys. We're going in.

Occupy Bilderberg turned up

A statement of support from Occupy London was read out at Occupy Bilderberg. A symbol of Anglo-American unity, like Bilderberg itself. The statement protested against (amongst other things): the rise of an undemocratic "technocracy" – a "network of cronies" in which financial "experts", largely from the international banking community, who have been appointed rather than elected, are handed the reins of government.

So here you've got the (broadly speaking) liberal left protest movement, with its anti-corruption and pro-transparency agenda, finding common ground with US libertarians and an anti-Obama, anti-fascist, pro-union New Deal American like Webster Tarpley.

As Tarpley says: "Bilderberg creates a singularity, where a lot of seemingly disparate things come together." That applies not just to the people inside – megabank money and government – outside the security cordon you've got Occupy Bilderberg rubbing shoulders with US veterans, German students who've flown over for the event, truckers from Michigan, Orthodox Jews, Ron Paul supporters, anarcho-syndicalists, academics and grandmothers.
Why? In the words of the statement from Occupy London: "the profound denial of a participatory, direct democracy which the Bilderberg Conference represents."

Mainstream news turned up

Finally. The Washington Times sent Ben Wolfgang, the Guardian sent Ryan Devereaux and the Times of London actually tried to get a journalist inside – Alexandra Frean was turned away at the gates. But she tried. At least she tried. That's a start. We can work with that.

Internet ID




There was speculation before the conference that on the Bilderberg agenda this year would be how to implement a unique EU internet ID. Who would be pushing that through? Step up Neelie Kroes, EU commissioner for digital agenda.

Presumably Eric Schmidt (Google) and Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn) would have been sharing podium-space with Bill Gates at that session. That's if there was one, of course.

Partij voor de Dieren-voorvrouw Marianne Thieme wilde van de minister-president weten wat er nou allemaal besproken is op de Bilderbergconferentie vorige week in de Verenigde Staten.

Dat mondde uit in Kamervragen aan premier Rutte die hij gisteren beantwoorde. Hij wil niets kwijt over het besprokene en Rutte beroept zich op de Chatham House Rules. Maar die regels bestaan niet. Wel bestaat de Chatham House Rule, enkelvoud dus. Maar laat die nou net niet van toepassing zijn op de Bilderbergconferenties.

Chatham House – een 18e eeuws huis aan het Londense St. James’s Square – heet officieel het Royal Institute of International Affairs, een denktank die zich bezighoudt met internationale vraagstukken. Het instituut bestaat sinds 1920.

In 1927 werd de Chatham House Rule gedefinieerd. De kern: deelnemers aan een discussie moeten vrijuit kunnen spreken. Er mag in de buitenwereld gesproken worden over die discussie mits uitspraken niet zijn toe te schrijven aan de deelnemers. In het Engels:

When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.
