"From other disasters and experiments carried out by the aluminium industry, we know that reactions of this sort lead to violent explosions."

The official report blames the collapse on the over-heating and failure of the structural steel beams at the core of the buildings, an explanation Simensen rejects.

Given the quantities of the molten metal involved, the blasts would have been powerful enough to blow out an entire section of each building, he said.

This, in turn, would lead to the top section of each tower to fall down on the sections below.

The sheer weight of the top floors would be enough to crush the lower part of the building like a house of card, he said.

The aluminium-water scenario would also account for explosions from within the buildings just prior to their collapse that have fuelled conspiracy theories suggesting that the structures had been booby-trapped.

Simensen presented his theory at an international materials technology conference in San Diego, California, and has detailed his calculations in an article published in the trade journal Aluminium International Today.

"The aluminium industry had reported more than 250 aluminium-water explosions since 1980," he said.

In a controlled experiment carried out by Alcoa Aluminium, 20 kilos (44 pounds) of molten aluminium was allowed to react with 20 litres of water, along with a small quantity of rust.

"The explosion destroyed the entire laboratory and left a crater 30 metres (100 feet) in diameter," Simensen said.

By comparison, the aircraft carried 30 tonnes of aluminium into each of the towers, according to his calculations.

Simensen speculates that the two commercial jets were immediately trapped inside an insulating layer of building debris within the skyscrapers.

The debris -- especially plaster, which blocks the transfer of heat -- would have formed a shield protecting the rest of the building.

At the same time, however, it would created a super-hot, oven-like zone around the aircraft, heated by burning fuel.

Aluminium alloy, which in jet hulls also contains magnesium, melts at 660 degrees Celsius (1,220 degrees Fahrenheit). If heated to 750 C (1382 F), the alloy "becomes as liquid as water," Simensen said.

This molten aluminium could then have flowed downward through staircases and gaps in the floor, causing a chemical reaction with water from sprinklers on the levels below.

The mix would immediately boost temperatures by several hundred degrees, releasing combustible hydrogen in the process. Such reactions are even more powerful in the presence of rust or other catalysts, which can boost temperatures to more than 1,500 C (2,700 F).

A meltdown period of 30 to 45 minutes would also be consistent with the timing of the explosions and subsequent collapse of both buildings in relation to the moment of impact.

Simensen said there are lessons to be learned, if his theory is correct, that could help avoid a similar disaster were another skyscraper to be hit by a big jet.

"We could develop means of rapidly emptying sprinkler systems in the floors beneath the point of impact," he said.

Firing a rocket with fire-retardant that could coat the aircraft body could also help prevent metal alloy from melting"...

Okay, een héél duidelijk én plausibel verhaal!
Echter hoe ik ook zoek, ik kan niet dat "beruchte" ontplofte laboratoriumverhaal niet op het internet terugvinden. Maar wél hele andere dingen over ALCOA, daarover later meer.
Het is inderdaad bekend dat aluminium nogal "gevaarlijk" is onder bepaalde omstandigheden. Maar dan moeten de omstandigheden wél optimaal zijn.

Onderzoeken van de brand in de beide torens blijken uit te wijzen dat de temperaturen slechts een héél kort moment héél erg hoog waren. Dat was het moment dat de vliegtuigen dus binnenvlogen en ontplofte. Vanzelfsprekend is dat het moment met de meeste temperatuurontwikkeling geweest, maar ook het moment dat alle potentiële cerosine in rook opging met een enorme zuurstof behoefte. Daarmee de brand dus kort-, hevig-, én intens geweest moest zijn. Zie daarvoor de TORONTO HEARINGS een paar posten terug.

Er zijn honderden voorbeelden te noemen van zéér hevige (industriële) branden waarbij constructies van metaal én aluminium onder véél langere tijd in brand hebben gestaan - óók dus onder hoge en soms hogere temperaturen. Maar daar dus helemaal géén chemische ontploffingen plaatsvonden na in aanraking komende met gewoon bluswater (sprinklers)!!! Neem ook bijvoorbeeld de bijlmerramp, dat was ook geen kattenpis! Daar werd ook gesproken over temperaturen vér boven de 3000 graden, waarbij zelfs verdamping van vaste materie ter sprake was. Daar werd in eerste instantie ook water als blus-, koelmiddel gebruikt. De bijlmermeer bestaat nog steeds tot de dag van vandaag...

Nog meer vraagtekens:
Het WTC stort zich kaarsrecht naar beneden, met vrijwel de snelheid van het geluid!!! Dit zet nog altijd dé grootste vraagtekens. Dat zelfs het tweede gebouw, met exact dezelfde valbeweging inelkaar zakt. Nog mooier wordt het verhaal als WTC-7 instort met hetzelfde ballet , welke niet eens is getroffen door een vliegtuig!

Als er dus 30 ton vloeibaar aluminium in aanraking komt met een aanzienlijke hoeveelheid water, dan had héél Manhattan nu één grote krater moeten zijn van 300 meter diep! Okay, overdreven dan....sorry!

Een groot deel van de vliegtuigen én het aluminium is tijdens de explosie verloren gegaan en in snippers BINNEN én BUITEN de gebouwen verdwenen.
Neem nou aan dat er nog dus slechts 1% van het aluminium toch aanwezig bleef, dan praten we nog over ruim 300 kilo over. Deze 300 kilo, moet dus dan smelten en dus constant de temperatuur boven de 660 graden hebben. Het moet in contact komen met water, wat dus ook niet onmogelijk is, want de sprinklerinstallaties stonden aan (mits die nog intact waren na 45 minuten, met alle aanwezige beschadigingen). Okay BOEM!!!

Maar het is onwaarschijnlijk dat er dus een klont van 300 kg aluminium gelijktijdig smelt en zich verspreidt, omdat de vliegtuigen immers ontploften en dus in duizenden stukjes in de omgeving opging. Dus die resterende snippers van een aannemelijke 300 kilo moeten dus smelten en dus her en der verzamelen. Die smeltende fragmenten, mét de juiste temperatuur moeten weer met water in contact komen en dan dus tot ontploffing komen. Het kan allemaal, maar dan gaat het allemaal véél onregelmatiger en zou zo'n kaarsrechte instorting onmogelijk zijn!

Die pannenkoekenvaltheorie is ook omstreden. Volgens simulaties hadden de gebouwen in veel grovere delen links en rechts moeten instorten.
Ja, ik word weer lacherig als ik een plausibele redenering moet geven over het WTC-7 en over simultane ineenstorting van dat gebouw!!??

Goed hoe zit het dan met het bedrijf ALCOA, dat in de pers benoemd wordt. Dat er dus een slimme Noor bij SINTEF werkt is wel duidelijk. Beslist géén kleine piepeltjes en in mijn opzicht verre weg van onpartijdig onderzoek .

Want wat blijkt nou.....:
Na een beetje oppervlakkig graafwerk blijkt dat ALCOA bijzonder verwikkeld is in DOOD en VERDERF, CIA en TOP SECRET...

Voordat een vliegtuig de lucht in gaat moet iedereen zijn elektronische apparaten uitzetten. En omdat ooit de mare is verspreid dat je toestel zou kunnen neerstorten als je je daaraan niet houdt, geven de meeste van ons gevolg aan die opdracht.

Maar de twijfel is groot of het verbod ergens op slaat. Zeker nu de meeste piloten in de weer zijn met iPad’s zonder fatale gevolgen.

Ook de FAA, de instantie die de reglementen voor de luchtvaart in de VS vaststelt, twijfelt sterk aan het nut van het verbod. De FAA gaat de komende maanden samen met de luchtvaartmaatschappijen het beleid ‘herzien’

World Trade Center Properties kan een maximale schadevergoeding van 2,8 miljard dollar (2,2 miljard euro) krijgen.
