Tripoli City Center Not Under Rebel Control
Posted: 2011/08/25
From: Mathaba
www.mathaba.net/news/?x=628301

Photographs coming out of the Corinthia Hotel show that rebels have barricaded themselves in luxury hotel grounds and are surrounded, unable to control even the city center by the NATO-controlled sea

As the Internet has bounced back for the moment after some days off-line, a picture very far removed from what NATO and world media would like to claim, is emerging.

Even the city center directly on the coastal waters, is not under NATO rebel control, as evidenced by their being besieged and cowering behind erected cement blocks at the Corinthia Hotel.

The rebels, according to a source within NATO that spoke on condition of anonymity, are using the hotel as a base to fire upon the popular masses defending their country from the NATO-led invasion.

The Rixos Hotel had previously been considered safe from NATO bombing and had thus housed the foreign journalists as well as some western intelligence agents operating under the guise of CNN and the BBC.

After foreign mercenaries landed in Tripoli and aerial bombardment pushed a way forward for the rebels, the Rixos was used even at one point by government officials as a refuge from bombing, and the journalists there were prevented from leaving due to fights around the hotel for control of the area as well as sniper fire.

A Red Cross convoy had then arrived during a lull and rescued the journalists and moved them to the Corinthia Hotel by the sea yesterday, also in central Tripoli, with the aim of evacuating the foreigners by sea to Malta today.

However, the journalists and other foreigners are now yet again holed up, due to the rebels facing stiff resistance, using the hotel as a shelter and base, perhaps also hoping to flee to Malta to escape their fate in a hell fire they had not expected.

For an idea of what Tripoli is like, think of Adelaide in South Australia, a city by the sea, of just under 2 million people.

The only explanation of the inability of the rebels to take over Tripoli, is the armed population, and the popularity of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi as well as his family who are leading the resistance.

As the photographs below show, the Corinthia Hotel is now a hide out for the rebels who are now surrounded, after they had entered Tripoli looting and harassing along the way, supported by NATO which took down communications and all TV stations.

NATO's Operation Mermaid, which was to take Tripoli by landing the mercenaries that had been trained and prepared in the UAE with a full mock-up of central Tripoli is a clear failure.

The replica of Tripoli in Qatar was also used to spread fake media reports on Jazeera, CNN and the BBC world wide.

The Qaddafi family, along with the Libyan citizens and defence forces, still control much of the city and have encircled the rebels and killed, according to government sources, over a thousand mercenaries.

It is evident that NATO does not control anything but the sea and are unable to even protect any ship to dock in Tripoli port, to evacuate foreigners.

A rebel source told Mathaba that they had not expected resistance from the population, as they had been living outside Libya and thought that Qaddafi was a tyrant and unpopular.

However, the Libyan leader rose in popularity after the NATO-led aggression against Libya, that was meant to assassinate him and over throw the popular government, failed to achieve any results with the expected 2-day operation now approaching 6 months.

Some of what I have found out about Libya & Muammar Al Qaddafi since the brutal, illegal invasion of Libya by Rothschild owned NATO forces.

I ask all reading this to do whatever they can to oppose the New World Order, NATO, the UN & our corrupt politicians.

Qaddafi made HUMAN RIGHTS A PRIORITY IN LIBYA!

economicsnewspaper.com/economics/the-libyan-crisis-spontaneous-revolution-or-coup-in-progress-28187.html

In an article published February 28, 2011 on the site picked up by Fox News and The Post April 26, 2011, we also learn that “While the UN hounds feverishly to condemn the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, for grave abuses against demonstrators, the organization Human Rights Council prepares to approve a glowing report for Libya on human rights.

His report commends Libya for helping improve educational opportunities for making human rights a “priority” and to have improved under his “constitutional”. Several countries, including Iran, Venezuela, North Korea and Saudi Arabia, but also Canada, Libya to give positive points for the legal protections it provides to its citizens – who are now in revolt against the regime and face bloody reprisals

In conclusion, although controlled media disinformation, Libya is a country that, beyond oil, 144 tons of gold in the vaults of the Central Bank of true Government of Libya, a country that offers its people free medical services and quality education system and a 100% subsidized by the state, a country that offers interest-free loans to its citizens, a country that has no debts to the IMF, World Bank or other financial institutions around the world and finally a country which, for all these, is a rich country, sovereign and independent

Why the Libyan people had necessarily to civil war and its leader suddenly became a tyrant and dictator who should be evicted as soon as possible by the international coalition. And all this, name of “democracy” that must settle by force and allowing insurgents to better serve the interests of the Masters of the World.

www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/MD14Ak02.html

Portions from above link - it has much more information - but this is the information confirming part of what the video states.

[Libyans] are entitled to free treatment, and their hospitals provide the best in the world of medical equipment. Education in Libya is free, capable young people have the opportunity to study abroad at government expense. When marrying, young couples receive 60,000 Libyan dinars (about 50,000 US dollars) of financial assistance. Non-interest state loans, and as practice shows, undated. Due to government subsidies the price of cars is much lower than in Europe, and they are affordable for every family. Gasoline and bread cost a penny, no taxes for those who are engaged in agriculture. The Libyan people are quiet and peaceful, are not inclined to drink, and are very religious.

They maintained that the international community had been misinformed about the struggle against the regime. "Tell us," they said, "who would not like such a regime?"

Even if that is just propaganda, there is no denying at least one very popular achievement of the Libyan government: it brought water to the desert by building the largest and most expensive irrigation project in history, the US$33 billion GMMR (Great Man-Made River) project. Even more than oil, water is crucial to life in Libya.

Another provocative bit of data circulating on the Net is a 2007 "Democracy Now" interview of US General Wesley Clark (Ret). In it he says that about 10 days after September 11, 2001, he was told by a general that the decision had been made to go to war with Iraq. Clark was surprised and asked why. "I don't know!" was the response. "I guess they don't know what else to do!" Later, the same general said they planned to take out seven countries in five years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

What do these seven countries have in common? In the context of banking, one that sticks out is that none of them is listed among the 56 member banks of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). That evidently puts them outside the long regulatory arm of the central bankers' central bank in Switzerland.

The most renegade of the lot could be Libya and Iraq, the two that have actually been attacked. Kenneth Schortgen Jr, writing on Examiner.com, noted that "[s]ix months before the US moved into Iraq to take down Saddam Hussein, the oil nation had made the move to accept euros instead of dollars for oil, and this became a threat to the global dominance of the dollar as the reserve currency, and its dominion as the petrodollar."

According to a Russian article titled "Bombing of Libya - Punishment for Ghaddafi for His Attempt to Refuse US Dollar", Gaddafi made a similarly bold move: he initiated a movement to refuse the dollar and the euro, and called on Arab and African nations to use a new currency instead, the gold dinar. Gaddafi suggested establishing a united African continent, with its 200 million people using this single currency.
And that brings us back to the puzzle of the Libyan central bank. In an article posted on the Market Oracle, Eric Encina observed:

One seldom mentioned fact by western politicians and media pundits: the Central Bank of Libya is 100% State Owned ... Currently, the Libyan government creates its own money, the Libyan Dinar, through the facilities of its own central bank. Few can argue that Libya is a sovereign nation with its own great resources, able to sustain its own economic destiny. One major problem for globalist banking cartels is that in order to do business with Libya, they must go through the Libyan Central Bank and its national currency, a place where they have absolutely zero dominion or power-broking ability. Hence, taking down the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) may not appear in the speeches of Obama, Cameron and Sarkozy but this is certainly at the top of the globalist agenda for absorbing Libya into its hive of compliant nations.

Libya not only has oil. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), its central bank has nearly 144 tonnes of gold in its vaults. With that sort of asset base, who needs the BIS, the IMF and their rules?

All of which prompts a closer look at the BIS rules and their effect on local economies. An article on the BIS website states that central banks in the Central Bank Governance Network are supposed to have as their single or primary objective "to preserve price stability".

If the Gaddafi government goes down, it will be interesting to watch whether the new central bank joins the BIS, whether the nationalized oil industry gets sold off to investors, and whether education and healthcare continue to be free.

Libya War Media Lies Exposed - BBC Shows "Green Square" in INDIA

Its not the first time BBC caught red-handed:

Earlier we had reported rebel advances on Tripoli a fake disinformation campaign

Libyan people are screaming but world leaders are deaf to their calls, not only do Libyans have to endure daily bombardment, the apathy of the politicians, the deaths and destruction, but they also have to come up face to face with with a cruel international media that is only serving world banking Mafia and , multinational oil companies.

THIS MEDIA BLACKOUT IS A CRIME AGAINST MILLIONS OF LIBYANS who are marching and demonstrating Every day across the country.

Here is the voice of one Libyan girl that will echo most Libyans perceptions about western leaders who are actively siding with terrorist rebels who have displaced tens of thousands of people, killed and tortured civilians on a massive scale.

I hope this girl's call will reach the many of you because I feel as if the whole of Libya was talking through her.

America Must See! FAKE YouTube Twitter Accounts From Libya- Manipulated Social Media

We dare you to watch this video released in march about the manipulated social media orchestrated to sway the public on Libya. We have been tracking this arrogant display of ignorace for months now, as fake accounts, fake (created) footage, and even videos from the police perspective, all with the goal of portraying a false story to get Ameicans on board with the killing machine.

This might be a surprise to you, if you live in the West, but the media is lying to us about Libya. The entire "civil war" was manufactured by a CIA EU UN psyop intervention into a young student movement. Gaddafi is not their president, he is the inspiration of Libya (and much of the arab world). The traditional people of Libya LOVE him. It's the New Thought community, that craves western culture, music, movies, and progressive ideals, that is fighting against Gaddafi, and the UN jumped in to empower that movement.

Gaddafi asked for a fact finding mission months ago, but he was denied. Since the media is controlled in the West, they are portraying a FALSE message to the American people.

libya- Movie sets, fake videos and pics, death threats to journalists

Surpassing previous mass media fabrications, both in scale and boldness, yesterday morning's Al Jazeera mise-en-scène will surely go down in history as one of the most cynical hoaxes committed by corporate media since the manipulated pictures of Iraqis topplying Saddam Hussein's statue after the US invasion in 2003.

On the morning of August 22nd 2011, Al Jazeera aired a 'live' report from Green Square in Tripoli, which claimed to show the capture of the Libyan capital by rebel forces. Scenes of jubilation and euphoria enveloped Al Jazeera's reporter Zeina Khodr as she declared: " Liya is in the hands of the opposition''

The images were immediately reproduced throughout the global media complex, with headlines trumpeting the 'end of the Gaddafi regime' and editorials throughout the corporate media world speculating about the post-Gaddafi future of Libya.

Gaddafi's sons were said to have been arrested, and more defections were announced. The Libyan capital was, we were told, now in the hands of the rebel forces. For many, it seemed a fait accompli.

In fact, the Al Jazeera pictures from Green Square were an elaborate and criminal hoax. The report had been prefabricated in a studio in Doha Qatar . This information had been passed onto Libyan intelligence and the Libyan people had already been warned about the qatari psyops a couple of days previously on Rayysse state television.

The Al Jazeera hoax was intended to create the impression that Tripoli had fallen so as:

(1) to break the Libyan resistance by creating panic and chaos in the Libyan captial.
(2) to provide cover for the massacres of civilians that would occur in the days following the declaration of rebel victory.

In other words, the media would provide cover for the war crimes and crimes against humanity that are necessary in order to subjugate the Libyan Jamhahirya to Western corporate interests.

And an unbelievably bad one from Sky News:

Kill non-mainstream reporters in Libya, What U.S. is hiding

The Examiner learned in communications from human rights defenders and independent journalists throughout Monday that they were shaken with news of 1300 Libyans killed and 5000 wounded Saturday, plus, the U.S. allegedly ordered Targeted Killings of Voltaire Network reporters, Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya and Thierry Meyssan, non-mainstream reporters in Libya covering the NATO war, while other independent reporters there are being fired upon and one, Mohammed Nabbous was killed Saturday according to ABC News. In an interview with journalist Don DeBar on KPFA radio, he reported most mainstream "news" about Libya has been untrue, as alternative news sites heavily report but are increasingly persecuted according to their recent reports.

"The conflict in Libya has claimed the life of another journalist. A sniper shot Mohammed Nabbous, 28-year old resident of Benghazi and founder of its first independent TV news channel Libya Alhurra, on Saturday night," reported ABC's Mark Colvin on Monday.

'NATO carpet bombed Libya'
Tue Sep 6, 2011 5:56PM
www.presstv.ir/detail/197775.html

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has “carpet bombed” the entire neighborhoods in Libya, a writer and geopolitical analyst told Press TV's US Desk in an interview.

“They carpet bombed the country … their deliberate tactic was to create a humanitarian disaster and to militarily clear the way, without any humanitarian regards, without any regards for human life,” said Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, from the Canadian based Centre for Research on Globalization, on Monday.

"[NATO] used every dimension of the psychological war including the media to create fear which created a state of panic and it also traumatized the local population and it caused a lot of people to defect, not a lot but it did cause quite a fair number of people to defect or to remain neutral," Nazemroaya said.

Nazemroaya further added that NATO should be held accountable for the war crimes it has committed against the state of Libya.

Meanwhile, NATO's Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen went on to say that the US-led military alliance would soon end its operation in Libya.

Rasmussen, however, added that a definite timetable would not be announced as their withdrawal depends on the assessment made by commanders on ground.

Libya has been the scene of intense fighting between government troops and the fighters since a revolution seeking to topple the now-fugitive Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi began in mid-February.

The US and NATO started to unleash a punishing UN-mandated offensive against Gaddafi in an alleged attempt to pressure him into giving up power on March 19.

The alliance's airstrikes have claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians.

Libya conflict: Gaddafi denies fleeing to Niger
8 September 2011 Last updated at 11:15 GMT
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14831925

Libya's fugitive leader Muammar Gaddafi has dismissed as lies and psychological warfare the speculation that he has fled south to neighbouring Niger.

He was speaking by phone to a pro-Gaddafi TV channel in Syria, apparently from inside Libya.

Earlier, Niger said it was considering what to do if he sought refuge there.

Officials say the central bank sold 29 tonnes of gold, netting 1.7bn Libyan dinars ($1.4bn; £875m), while it was still under Col Gaddafi's control.

The reserves were sold to local merchants in April or May, and the money used to cover salaries, said officials from the interim authorities, the National Transitional Council (NTC).

The sales represented about 20% of Libya's gold reserves, interim bank governor Qassim Azzuz told reporters in the capital Tripoli.

None of the bank's assets were "missing or were stolen" during the six-month uprising which overthrew Col Gaddafi, Mr Azzuz said, but his figures did not include assets held privately by the Gaddafi family.

The NTC says eyewitnesses in Niger reported seeing some gold and money in armed convoys which crossed the Libyan border a few days ago.

"If that happened, we want that money back," NTC official Fathi Badja said, as quoted by the AFP news agency.

Niger would decide later whether to accept Col Gaddafi or hand him to the International Criminal Court (ICC), the country's foreign minister told the BBC.

There has been speculation that Col Gaddafi may go to Niger after groups of loyalists fled there in recent days.

Libya's transitional authorities have asked Niger not to take him in.

Niger recognises the ICC, which is seeking the arrest of Col Gaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam, and his former intelligence chief Abdullah Sanussi.

'No means'

Col Gaddafi told the Al-Rai channel, which is based in the Syrian capital Damascus, that there was nothing unusual about convoys going to Niger.

However, in a BBC interview on Wednesday, Niger's Foreign Minister Mohamed Bazoum admitted that officials from his government were among those people who had recently crossed into Niger in at least three convoys, but he said that neither Col Gaddafi nor any of his sons were currently in his country.

Regarding the recent Libyan refugees, Mr Bazoum said: "We told them that we can accept them to stay for humanitarian reasons, but they have to respect what the international law allows them to do or not allow them to do."

The foreign minister also stressed that Niger simply had "no means to close the border" with Libya, describing it as "too big".

Niger has belatedly recognised Libya's interim authorities, the NTC, the BBC's Mark Doyle in Niamey says.

But the government in the capital Niamey clearly feels it cannot just abandon Col Gaddafi completely, a man with whom it has had a long relationship, our correspondent adds.

Border 'too big'

Officials in Niger have said Col Gaddafi's security chief, Mansour Daw, was among those who entered the country in the convoys over the weekend or on Monday.

Mr Bazoum added that those who had arrived from Libya - of whom there were fewer than 20 - were free to stay in Niamey, or to continue to Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso - which borders Niger to the south-west - has denied reports that it had offered to welcome Col Gaddafi.

Col Gaddafi's wife, two of his sons and his daughter fled to Algeria last week.

His own whereabouts remain the subject of speculation - though the NTC say they believe he is still in Libya.

Senior Western officials say they have no information about where Col Gaddafi may be, but have no indication he has left the country.

Stockpiles of weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, grenades and rockets have been found in unguarded warehouses around Tripoli.

Campaign group Human Rights Watch (HRW) says the weapons could fall into the wrong hands - either Gaddafi loyalists or Islamist militants.

"There are all these unguarded munitions facilities, and anyone can go in with a pickup or an 18-wheeler and take whatever they want," said Peter Bouckaert from HRW, who has recorded multiple weapons caches around the Libyan capital.

Mr Bouckaert said he found 100,000 anti-tank and anti-personnel mines at one unguarded site. Elsewhere, he found weapons caches hidden under fruit trees, the Associated Press reported.

The NTC has been trying to negotiate a peaceful resolution to stand-offs in a handful of Libyan towns or cities still controlled by Gaddafi loyalists.

These include Bani Walid, Jufra, Sabha and Col Gaddafi's birthplace of Sirte.

The NTC has positioned forces outside Bani Walid, and says talks will continue there until a deadline on Saturday.

But in his phone message, Col Gaddafi said he would still be able to defeat his opponents.

"The youths are now ready to escalate the resistance against the 'rats' [rebels] in Tripoli and to finish off the mercenaries," he said.
